With Christmas hastily approaching, I belief I would mention one of my approved online shopping haunts… it is called The Sundance Catalog Company.
Robert Redford founded the company in 1969 with the earnings from the film, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Found at the horrible of the delicate Wasatch Mountains in Salt Lake City, Utah, originally opened as a general store, mail order became available in 1989. Now, some 30 plus years later we can shop online for the current offerings of artisan’s from all over the world!
Redford’s dedication to the arts, the environment, and human rights is distinct in each item offered by the Catalog. Products ranging from home decor to jewelry and clothing, many of them handcrafted exclusively for Sundance. Artist’s submissions from all over the globe are carefully considered before being selected for the Catalog. Along with a strict adherence to third world country labor laws, any product selected must meet the high standards of Redford’s philosophies.
Most remarkable of the offerings at Sundance is the jewelry. dazzling pieces of ample silver, gold and every gem imaginable handcrafted by some the most distinguished jewelry artists in the country.
When buying from Sundance you are supporting craftspeople from all over the world, the Sundance Institute for development of original artists in film, music, dance and theater, and efforts to improve and withhold the environment.
“There are many avenues under the tremendous category called art, but at its core, to me, art is simply the language of the soul.” –Robert Redford
